Spectroscopy Europe
As many of you may know, Spectroscopy Europe is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2010. It was first published, as European Spectroscopy News, in 1975. After an appeal earlier in the year, I have been able to obtain copies of almost all issues (issues 36 and 38 are missing, so if you have them ...) thanks to Alan Boyd of Heriot-Watt University: Alan, I am extremely grateful. This enables us to start digitising some of the content of these old issues, what I intend to call the “ESN Archive”. This will be built up as time permits to include all articles, interviews, columns and items that seem of particular relevance or importance.
Verisante Technology, Inc. has announced that a research study using its Core laser Raman spectroscopy system was named as one of the Canadian Cancer Society’s 10 research achievements for 2011.
Applications are invited for the 2013 Gordon Kirkbright Bursary, a prestigious annual award that enables a promising student/non-tenured young scientist of any nation to attend a recognised scientific meeting or visit a place of learning.
Sigma-Aldrich has acquired the assets of Resource Technology Corporation (RTC) of Laramie, Wyoming, USA, manufacturer of analytical standards and certified reference materials. The acquisition of RTC's business complements Sigma-Aldrich's recently completed acquisition of Cerilliant.
Scientists at the University of Warwick have developed a computation which simultaneously doubles the resolution, sensitivity and mass accuracy of Fourier Transform Mass Spectrometry (FT-MS) at no extra cost.
