Protein Metrics licenses lipid analysis software from PNNL

Protein Metrics has announced an agreement with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) whereby it was granted an exclusive commercial license to PNNL’s lipid analysis software for tandem mass spectrometry data. Complementing Protein Metrics’ advanced Byonic protein identification engine, this lipid software makes structural identifications across an expanding list of lipids (>20,000), covering many lipid subclasses, to provide automated processing of high-throughput liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) data.

The Lipify software offers a graphical user interface to allow scientists to interact with results and provide intuitive views of analysed data that aids manual verification of identifications. Its algorithms allow a typical search of 26,000 lipid targets completed in less than 15 s. Results can be readily exported for reporting and publication.
