Merck to acquire Sigma-Aldrich

Merck is acquiring Sigma-Aldrich for around E13 billion. Based on 2013 figures, the merged company would have sales of E4.7 billion. As well as a host of analytical and chromatography products, Sigma-Aldrich will be known to readers for their ranges of certified reference materials (CRMs) under the Cerilliant, RTC and TraceCERT brands. It is anticipated that the acquisition will complete in mid-2015.
